Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 m (PAM00863)

The clock in honor of the year of the Rat is created in the Italian craft technique “sparsello”.

The company Panerai introduced a new watch from the “zodiac” series, the release of which began in 2009. The 12th in the series limited model Luminor Sealand – 44 m (PAM00863) is dedicated to the year of the Rat, which officially (according to the Chinese lunar calendar) will come on January 25.

Bright and ambitious, people born under the sign of the Rat, thanks to intelligence and a sharp mind, adapt to any situation, steadfastly overcoming all life obstacles. The rat depicted on the cover of the PAM00863 dial is also endowed with dexterity and rich imagination.

A blank cover on the dial is a hallmark of all sealand models. With the help of a hinged mount, the cover with a mirror built on the back side is fixed on a 44 mm body made of brushed steel AISI 316L. This functional and at the same time decorative element protects the silver-gray dial with alternating in the marking of printed Arabic numerals and index sticks duplicated with round fluorescent marks.

The pattern on the lid is made by hand by Italian masters in the ancient craft technique “sparsello”. The technique owes its name to a special tool similar to a small scalpel, with the help of which notches are made at the beginning of work on metal. Next, the notches are filled with gold threads, which are carefully driven into the metal with a hammer, filling the resulting depressions. This takes the master about 50 hours (for one copy of the series).

The watch operates to the rhythm of the automatic caliber P. 9010 with two winding drums that provide the watch with a 3-day power reserve. The 6 mm thick movement, fully designed and assembled at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, is also equipped with a quick time adjustment system that, if necessary, “tightens” the date on the watch.

The case is fixed on a golden semi-matte calfskin strap with beige stitching. The model, limited to a series of 88 copies, comes in a pear tree box. A spare rubber strap (black) and a strap replacement tool and a screwdriver to remove the clasp are also included. The series is available exclusively in Panerai boutiques.
