On November 12, 2020, we will learn the name of the 20th winner of the Golden Arrow, the main award of the Swiss часовая промышленность, which is awarded annually as part of the Гран-при Женевы of Watchmaking (GPHG). This year is significant not only for the anniversary award: in 2020, the founders of GPHG launch the international Academy of the watch industry. The new initiative is aimed at attracting a large number of эксперты who will take part in different stages of the selection of nominee models.

In addition to the traditional award ceremony, we are waiting for a series of events, including 2 exhibitions, where you can see 19 winning hours of previous years. The exhibitions will be open to the public during the upcoming Watches & Wonders and Baselworld watch salons. We did not wait for spring and invite you to see which models were recognized as the best watches of the year for the entire existence of the watch Oscar.

2001 – Vacheron Constantin Lady Kalla

The only female model to date that managed to take the Golden Arrow. Lady Kalla is a jewelry bracelet watch made of white gold, encrusted with large baguette-cut diamonds. With all the miniature of this masterpiece, the mechanism inside is not кварц, but mechanical. At the same time, the crown, in order not to spoil the feeling of the completed canvas, is located on the back of the case.

Without exaggeration, the exceptional astronomical clock made of white gold displays a map of the night sky above Geneva, the phases and orbit of the Moon, as well as the time of Sirius’ passage through the meridian. The 38 mm case is equipped with a 240 CL LU calibre, which is wound with a micro rotor.

2003 – Patek Philippe Ref.5101P

This uncompromisingly elegant watch combines two осложнения – a турбийон and a power reserve indicator designed for 10 days of operation of the mechanism. 2005 – Vacheron Constantin Tour de L’ile

The Vacheron Constantin Tour de L’ile is a dual-dial wristwatch whose movement supports 16 sophisticated functions, including a minute repeater, a tourbillon, a вечный календарь and astronomical complications. The model was released as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the house Vacheron Constantin.

F.P. Journe is one of those rare watch manufacturers that produce complex models with the function of “grande sonnerie” or “big fight”. One winding drum is enough for a watch to beat the time in the big fight mode for 24 hours. The manually wound movement is also equipped with features that protect it from misuse. In silent mode, the watch has enough energy for 5 days of operation without winding.

This example of Richard Mille’s unique, sporty and brutal style was released in a limited edition of 30 copies. The barrel-shaped platinum body of the model encloses an impressive tourbillon mechanism with an unusual tubular structure.

This chronograph counts down the time with emphasized scrupulousness. On the dial of the model there are 3 non-standard counters, the hands on which pass a full circle in 1 second, 20 seconds and 10 minutes. The movement of the watch is placed in a 40 mm platinum case, made in the corporate style of F.P. Journe.

2009 – A Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk

A Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk is the first mechanical watch that shows time in digital format with an accuracy of up to the minute. At the same time, due to a special disk display system, the watch is extremely conveniently readable. On the dial, which complements the case with a diameter of 41.9 mm, there was also a place for a seconds indicator with a stopping seconds mechanism and a power reserve indicator.

2010 – Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon 30°

The reference “30°” in the model name refers to the angle under which two mobile tourbillon carriages are connected. The watch, presented in a case with a diameter of 44.5 mm, was released in a limited edition of 11 copies.

2011 – De Bethune DB28

Model De Bethune DB28 and its titanium body of 46.2 mm with characteristic through ears – a real watch UFO. In the arsenal of this owner of the “Golden Arrow” there is an indication of hours, minutes, a spherical indicator of lunar phases, a power reserve indicator and an indicator of the performance of the mechanism.

2012 – Tag Heuer Mikrogirder

Model TAG Heuer Mikrogirder is not an ordinary watch. Instead of the traditional balance-spiral system, this chronograph is equipped with an innovative linear regulator that vibrates at an unprecedented frequency of 1000 Hertz (7,200,000 pc/hour), which outputs an accuracy of 5/10’000 of a second. The work of the regulator can be monitored, due to the fact that this part of the mechanism is open for review.

2013 – Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement LM

The Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement is regulated by a revolutionary descent. Taking advantage of the bistable state of the curved silicon blade, the trigger ensures a constant regulator power regardless of the force generated by the cylindrical springs.

2014 – Breguet Classique Chronométrie 7727

The balance oscillation frequency in the Breguet Classique Chronométrie 7727 is 10 Hz, which is 2.5 times higher than the standard figure for a modern mechanical watch. For impeccable accuracy of travel, the use in the oscillatory system of false stones with micromagnets that cause the balance wheel to rotate with a constant amplitude works here.

2015 – Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision

The highlight of this model, presented in a white gold case with a diameter of 43.5 mm, is a 24-second tourbillon, the rotations of which can be observed through the aperture at the mark “9 hours”.

2016 – Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre FB1

In the arsenal of this model, a fusey chain transmission and a traditional tourbillon with a minute rotation cycle are used. Made of white gold, the octagonal body (44 mm in diameter) is complemented by a grey dial with two apertures – a tourbillon and a power reserve indicator.

2017 – Chopard L.U.C Full Strike

This minute repeater with a partially open mechanism for review is equipped with several innovations. In particular, the watch has sapphire gongs, which to enhance the sound form a single whole with the сапфировое стекло of the dial.

The astronomical clock Bovet Récital 22 is dedicated to 3 celestial bodies that set the rhythm of our life – the Sun, the Earth and the Moon. The sun can be seen on the carriage of a soaring tourbillon at the bottom of the dial. The earth, represented as a hemisphere at the top of the dial, displays the time in a 24-hour format. The moon, passing through the cycle assigned to it, as it has been established since time immemorial, revolves around the sun.

A classic example of royal Oak style with an ultra-thin profile is nothing more than the thinnest perpetual calendar with self-winding. With a case thickness of 6.3 mm, the thickness of the mechanism is 2.89 mm.
