The British auction house Fellows offers to purchase a piece of history related to one of the most famous disasters of the twentieth century. On October 26, as part of the Fellows Luxury Watch Sale, a special Romain Jerome watch will be put up for sale. The limited-edition model with the telling name Titanic is presented in a body made of steel extracted from the metal parts of the hull of the infamous Titanic liner.

The watch was made in 2012, for the 100th anniversary of the titanic tragedy. The company purchased a piece of the ship’s hull weighing about 1.5 kg, lifted from the bottom in 1991, and used the metal parts of the skin to make the watch. Fellows estimated this lot at £3,600 – 5,600.

The back of the Titanic-DNA Steampunk Auto case is decorated with a medallion depicting the Titanic, which shows the inscription “Made from parts of the Titanic, Tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Titanic, 1912-2012”.

In addition to the metal from the liner itself, the watch also uses metal from the Harland & Wolff shipyards, where the Titanic was built. The steel housing with model number RJTAUSP002 (serial number 21116) complements the rust-coated steel bezel. The steampunk style is supported by massive Roman numerals on the dial. A self-winding mechanism is installed inside.
