Incredible Handcrafted Patek Philippe Watches from Rare Handcrafts

Good afternoon, watch lovers and readers of my blog!

In the modern watchmaking community, Patek Philippe is arguably the most famous luxury watchmaker of the highest class , and many of their chronometers are widely regarded as outstanding ( which only the legendary Nautilus or Calatrava are worth ).

To be honest, I really like Patek Philippe, because for more than a dozen years they have continued to maintain the level and produce in-house watches of the highest level .

And just such a watch, but not serial, but the most that neither is, exclusive and best, you can enjoy at the presentation of Rare Handcrafts , which takes place in the Geneva Patek Philippe Salon from June 16 to 26 this year . It includes unique watches not only from 2021, but also from the previous year , which means it can pleasantly surprise the visitor not only with the quality, but also with the number of watchmaking artworks .

About the most interesting and memorable copies of the exhibition – in today’s publication!

One of the most atypical ( for strict and conservative Patek ) watches in the whole exhibition are the classic Patek Philippe Calatrava with the self-explanatory name ” Flock of Fish “.

In fact, this is not just one watch, but a whole trio . Inspired by the synchronized movement of fish, turns and jerks in the unisson , the special feature of this watch is that each of the enamel dials is hand-crafted using the cloisonne technique , where gold serves as a partition between the enamel of different colors . Each dial went through 12 to 15 kilns, heated to ~ 800 degrees Celsius .

The stunning ultra-thin caliber Caliber 240 with a micro-rotor is installed inside the watch , the case remains in the classic Calatrava style, but has some variations. One of the versions is made of pink gold with diamonds on the bezel and lugs , the other is equipped with a hinged dustproof cover , the third is made of white gold and has a signature guilloche pattern on the bezel .

Perhaps the most impressive and literally brilliant watch of the entire exhibition is the stunning Nautilus , altered beyond recognition.

Can you guess how many Top Wesselton Pure faceted diamonds were set into the case, dial and bracelet of these ladies’ white gold Nautilus?

A small remark! Top Wesselton Pure – the second in terms of whiteness and clarity, diamonds that appear completely colorless to the naked eye.

In total, there are as many as 2,553 , totaling just under 13 carats. By creating a cobblestone pattern, jewelers were given complete freedom to combine diamonds of different sizes, leaving no gaps between them.

truly stunning sight , not only in terms of jewelry craftsmanship , but also watchmaking . Watches absolutely deservedly take their place at the exhibition among the best of the best .

Perhaps my favorite watch from the whole exhibition, which impressed me the most - PP Calatrava "Falcon Head"

The next watch in a small selection is perhaps simpler, however, personally, I was no less impressed. Calatrava with the telling name ” Hawk’s Head ” may not boast an incredible amount of the purest diamonds, but they demanded no less skill in their creation .

The thing is that their dial is not made of the usual enamel, but of wood , using the marquetry technique ( applying pieces of veneer to the structure to create patterns or drawings ).

To achieve such a realistic picture, the artist carved 168 tiny pieces of wood on the dial , made 200 inlays from 20 different types of wood , including maple, boxwood, walnut and gray poplar . The watch itself has a white gold case and a guilloche bezel, and the aforementioned ultra-thin caliber PP 240 is installed inside .

I am delighted that Patek Philippe always has something to please fans and enthusiasts alike . Once again glad, the Swiss manufactory has confirmed that it is capable of creating something more than just watches – real works of art . These are far from all the beautiful watches that appeared at the exhibition, you can see more on the official Patek Philippe website.

Write what impressed you the most and which of these watches you would like to see in your collection! I would be glad to join the discussion.

Until then, thanks for reading!
