The legendary brand of La Shen de Background Juvenia, well known to all collectors, is already the third generation of its cult model of the Sextant, which appeared in the 1940s. Those who have not seen this watch alive, it is better to immediately explain: use them as navigation or any other measuring instrument cannot be. It is just a very cool design.
Juvenia’s name will definitely respond in the head in everyone who at least once leaving a clocky auction directory. The company was founded in 1860 in Saint-Dae, then moved to La sho de-background, where since then continues to work. By the way, at first, only one lion was in the coat of arms Juvenia, but then he got a couple, besides looking in the other side – the company was forced to complicate the drawing to fight for fakes of its superpopular models. One of which was the SEXTANT line, first presented in the 1940s.
The name of the o’clock gave an old navigation device designed to measure the position of the Sun: with the help of a ruler and a special “limb” (Schoolchildren this tool is known as the transportation) with a scale of 60o – that is, 1/6 of the circle, hence the Latin name “Sextant”. The first two versions were presented in the gold case 34 mm. This model became the standard of the original, but at the same time classic watch design: it was Vintage Sextant II that chose Johnny Depp in 2007 for a photo shoot Esquire magazine. The clock also helped him get into the image – at that time Depp was preparing for the role of the elegant Gangster John Dillinger.
Three years ago, Juvenia decided to nostalgic! It is time for a modern “sextant”. The diameter was increased to 40 mm, a large selection of color combinations appeared, inside the housing of steel or 18-carat gold, an automatic mechanism processed manually was installed on Juvenia. The only thing that has not changed is a dial with a sextant and two lions, which cannot be confused with anything.
